Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton

May 4th, 2009

Streaming video of the Manny Pacquiao Vs. Ricky Hatton fight yesterday.

I picked the Filipino over the English man before the bout but I expected a more competitive fight. This is one of the most spectacular knockouts you will ever see in a boxing match. From the first round on Hatton looked over matched as the Pacquiao used his hand speed to drop the English man in the first round. He recovered and as you will see in the video he was dropped in the second round by a powerful left hand which landed perfectly on the face of Ricky.

Former Heavy Weight Champion Dies

April 27th, 2009

The former WBA heavyweight champion Greg Page passed away today in Louisville, Kentucky at the age of Fifty.

Apparently his death came about after health complications related to a 2001 fight where he was brutally beaten and ended up in a coma. When he came out of the coma he suffered a stroke which left him partially paralyzed and just a shell of himself.

Page started boxing at a young age and even sparred with Muhammad Ali at the age of fifteen. He was talented and seemed to have everything going for him, including a Golden Gloves National Championship win in 1978 when he was just twenty years old.

His boxing career was long and full of ups and downs, he won the heavyweight crown in 1984 when he defeated Gerrie Coetzee in an eight round technical knockout. Unfortunately he lost the heavyweight belt in his very next fight when he defended the championship against Tony Tubbs.

In 2001 the former champ fought the fight which changed his life for ever as he was pummeled by Dale Crowe a heavyweight prospect who was twenty four years old. Crowe dropped Greg in the tenth round and the former champ was unable to get up and remained down until taken to the hospital. The saddest part about this was that he was fighting for $1,500.

In 2007 the champ won a settlement of 2.1 million dollars against the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling association. The settlement was reached when it was proven that there was inadequate medical personnel at the facilities where his last bout took place and also where his live was changed for ever.

Rest in Peace Greg Page!

Carl Froch Vs Jermain Taylor

April 26th, 2009

Amazing boxing fight between Carl Froch Vs. Jermain Taylor.

I actually called this fight around the sixth round as I could see “Bad Intentions” wearing down vs the European Champion.

Jermain once again ran out of gas after the middle rounds and wore out, providing an opportunity for the champ who defnitely took advantage. He beat the challenger up in the 12th round and referee Ortega was forced to stop the fight with 14 seconds left. A few people were trying to imply that it was a bad stoppage but that is truly a ridiculous statement as Taylor was against the ropes with his eyes closed and hands down and about to go down for the second time in the round.

Here is the streaming video and the knockout (TKO) in an exciting 12th round.
